Organic Garden Club members loved touring the Moorpark Dragon Fruit Farm! Eyal Givons grows several high quality, exotic varieties of dragonfruit grown for sweetness, flavor, and nutrition on 5 acres of his 20 acre Moorpark, CA farm.

He does most of the labor himself with his wife, Tami, and one helper! All his Dragon Fruit flowers are hand gathered and cross pollinated at night in order to get these delicious and nutritious fruits. The flowers bloom one night only! One night he had 5000 flowers to pollinate! 

The fruit’s flesh is pink, red, magenta, white, and more, and has a high content of vitamins and nutrients, rich in magnesium and antioxidants. The dragon fruit is hand packed, separating the different colors and flavors of the fruit. Each plant has its own irrigation drip emitter and is supported with a single wire trellis. The view from the orchard is sublime!

Eyal showed Club members hills covered with various squashes and an orchard with a diverse selection of fruit trees, like guava, passionfruit, apricot, and lemon.

 We were treated to a delightful dragonfruit lemonade! Everyone loved the sweet juicy tasting of the different varieties of dragon fruits.
