Our February speaker was Dr. David White, the Soil Doctor, who runs the Center for Regenerative Agriculture in Ojai. His Once Upon a Watershed program provides hands-on local watershed education, restoration and stewardship experience for Kindergarten, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students in the Ventura River Watershed. He is doing oak tree restorations of Coastal, Engelmann, and Island Oaks with these organizations now. Oak trees are a keystone species and play a critical role in the ecosystem, keeping forests healthy as a source of food and habitat for plants, insects, birds, and California’s wild animals.
He is spreading the word that gardening can save the world by restoring the soil, water, and air! His passion for composting is evident in the following video.
