Native Plantapalooza

The Organic Garden Club Booth was a big hit at the Native Plantapalooza at Thousand Oaks Conejo Creek North Park! The event was sponsored by the Conejo Open Space Foundation.

We had a fabulous time sharing with community members about growing backyard organic fruits, veggies, and native plants for sustainability.

To prepare for the Native Plantapalooza, Bill took succulent cuttings from Jamey’s garden in July and created flats and passed them out for members to tend at our Summer Potluck. Debby and Joe grew a flat of columbines. Bill also grew different varieties of grape starters.

At our Seed Bank Party, eight of us made nearly 400 seed packets for our members for Fall Planting and to share free seeds with the community at the Plantapalooza.

We had activities for kids to learn from Lynne and Oonagh how to root a succulent or geranium in a bottle of water. They were curious to be able to watch their own plants grow roots like in the sample bottles. We also had a wheelbarrow of organic soil for kids to plant seeds.

Thanks to our wonderful volunteers for making the Native Plantapalooza such a successful event! Our mission is to inspire you to grow an Organic Food Garden with native plants for sustainable living!
