Eighteen Organic Garden Club members enjoyed planting cool season veggie seeds in Bill Brandt’s lovely garden. We planted six 6-packs on each flat with Michael Wittman’s special Blue Sky Living Soil! We used Baker Creek Heirloom seeds and Botanical Interests Organic seeds.

We soaked the planted seeds in Michael’s rich mix of Blue Sky nutrients! We have color coded plant tags for our Purple Cauliflower, Swiss Chard, Broccoli, Romanesco Cauliflower, Spinach, and Snowball Cauliflower.

Our Seed Planting Party in Bill’s garden was such fun! We loved seeing all his organic fruits and veggies! Bill has several varieties of terrific looking tomatoes!

Bill has 29 fruit trees in his garden! Michael did a Brix level testing on Bill’s grapes and apples at our Seed Party. Bill gets an award for fabulous fruit with a very high Brix level rating!

During our Seed Party, we packaged mixed wildflower seeds, pollinator garden seed balls, and sunflower seeds for the National Heirloom Expo, coming September 10 -12 at the Ventura Fairgrounds. Visit us at our booth and help us to inspire folks to grow their own organic food garden!

Bill gave Organic Garden members a tour of his fruit and veggie garden and we got to taste his wonderful Jupiter grapes and heavenly peaches!

Eight members volunteered for our Adopt a Flat program! They are now tending a flat of six 6-packs of organic heirloom fall veggies at home to grow until our October meeting to pass out to 48 lucky members!
